Summer Sun Tea

July 29, 2010

I found a small sun tea jug at the thrift store the other day and I was so excited. There are few things that make me feel as “summery” as iced tea. Making sun tea is super easy, too! I decided to make mine into sweet tea after visiting Big Jones for brunch the other day because I was super craving it. The recipe is simple.

First, brew up your tea. For this size jar I used two bags, but four would be best for a large jug. Then, let it brew in a sunny window for a few hours while you do other stuff. After the tea has reached your desired strength, take out the teabags and add whatever flavor you’d like. For sweet tea, you’ll need to make a syrup, which is done by boiling water and sugar in a 1-1 ratio. For my tiny jug, I used 1/3 cup of sugar to 1/3 cup water. Of course, always test before you put too much in. Add to tea (with ice!) and you’re done! You can spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the fruits of your laziness.
