Buying new furniture for our house has been nice, but it’s also been a bit stressful. Originally, we had picked out a larger couch than the one we ended up buying, but fearing that it wouldn’t fit into the room, we chickened out and bought the smaller version. Well, stupid us. We got the smaller version of the sofa a few weeks ago. It’s pretty and very comfortable, but in all honesty, I really think the other, original choice was better. It was longer and had a chaise that would have fit perfectly into our bay. Lesson learned, universe. From now on I will stick to my instincts.
While I do wish we had gotten the other version of the sofa, the new one looks nice nonetheless. I made some pretty pillows for it (as well as one for the chair), too, so that helps a bit.
My parents were nice enough to pass down these two leather chairs to us for the other part of our living room. They look great! Of course, leather and cats don’t really mix and they’ve done a bit of damage already. Let’s just say, I almost started crying. They are now covered with throws and are off-limits to the little furballs (though the worst injury to them happened while we were sleeping, so a lot of good that may do us).
I did a bit of rearranging to the table between the chairs, too, moving some stuff in from the other room so it looks a bit more filled out. Not perfect, but definitely more homey than before.
Another addition is this vintage wire basket. My mom bought it for me as an early birthday present at the monthly Third Sunday Market in Bloomington. It’s painted yellow, though it’s a bit hard to tell in the photo. I love how it provides easy access to all the blankets, which will come in handy when it gets cold again.
For the life of me I could not get a good photo of this, so I apologize. Too many windows in the room to get it without a major reflection, I suppose. I finally framed this poster I got at Hazel months ago, which I think matches our room nicely. Now I just need to find a totally rad bar to put into this little nook. So far, everything has been either too expensive or kinda crappy, so that mission continues.
All in all, not too bad. We’re definitely making some progress! We still desperately need blinds, drapes, a rug, and to have a chair recovered, but that’ll come in time!

Am loving how everything is coming together from the first time I saw your photos 🙂
Love the shroom print AND the kitty by the window 😉
Thank you so much! We still have a long way to go, but we’re making progress. : )
The rooms are really lovely! Where did you find the white ottoman, if you don’t mind me asking? 🙂
The ottoman is from Ikea. It’s called Ektorp Bromma or something like that. I like it because I can replace the slipcover once it gets too gross! 🙂
