Sometimes, you find decor items when you’re not even looking for them. I was out shopping a few weeks ago and decided to stop into West Elm to see how they were decorating for the holidays (I thought maybe I could use a few of their ideas). I didn’t find much holiday inspiration, but I did find a budget-priced rug that had been a display in the store. For half the regular price I couldn’t pass it up and got the OK from Rob to bring it home.
Originally, I had intended to use it in our main living area, but it just didn’t look right when I got it home. The colors didn’t work and it wasn’t the right shape. Not a good start. Since I couldn’t return it, I knew I had to live with it so I decided to try something else.
Instead of putting it in our main living area, I moved it over to our secondary, reading-area space. It fit there much better and actually looks really great. Whew! I still think we need a bigger rug for over here, but overall it’s not bad.
I still need to add a few items to tie it all together and get some curtains hung, but it’s making things feel a lot more comfortable.
Plus, now we get to enjoy the most comfortable rug in the world (courtesy of Ikea) in our main living area. I love sitting on it and it looks great over there, too. Total win-win.

Your reading space is awesome! I’m jealous!
Thank you! Unfortunately, I don’t get to read there often as it’s next to the TV and my husband has to always have it on. : /
I love your blue & white rug. I can’t wait to see the room pulled together from colors off the rug. I have some fabric (made into s curtain) that would look great in your room. http://www.kolarosedesigns.com
