Our dining room has long been the most blah room in our house, and probably will continue to be so for quite some time to come. I’m just not sure what to do with it and since we don’t use it a lot, it has been a bit neglected. I did, however, finally get around to getting some cute lamps for the sideboard in there.
They were surprisingly cheap at Home Goods (just $30 each) making this a pretty budget-friendly update. I’m pretty set on either staining or painting the sideboard in the coming months, too, I’m just not sure which way to go. I’m debating between a dark stain that would match the table, white paint, or a brighter color like green to bring some more “zazz” into the room.
I did get creative with a centerpiece in the meantime. It’s a basket from our wedding, an old wooden mold, mercury glass candleholders from West Elm, and some fake fern greenery. Looks reasonably nice and won’t go brown like fresh flowers.
On the sideboard you can also see some new additions to our house.
I got these super cute owl glasses as a birthday gift and picked up this set of turquoise Pyrex bowls at a garage sale for just $4! That’s less than a dollar a bowl, so pretty awesome for housewares on the cheap.

So jealous of those bowls and you did a great job with your centrepiece. I’m loving apple/pistaschio green right now – a sort of 60’s green that I would paint everywhere if I could find it.
I love the owl glasses!
