From White to Bright: A Chairish Challenge

August 14, 2015

A few weeks ago someone from Chairish reached out to me about taking part in their monthly blogger challenge. This month it was all about the chairs (fitting for the name) and using one to create a fun, colorful space. I chose this awesome velvety gold chair because it reminds me of some chairs we had when I was a kid– though this one might be a bit more posh. You can see the other accent chairs they offer here. I have my eye on a few, though I think we’re running out of space for more chairs.

Despite that association, this looked like a library chair to me, the kind of place that you can curl up and read a book. So, I designed a library space around it, with some decidedly art-deco inspired colors–though the items themselves are all over the place in style.
Chairish2All of the products here are from Chairish (this was not a paid or sponsored post, just a bit of fun) except the paint which is Benjamin Moore’s Sherwood Forest.

I wanted really rich, decadent colors that would go well with dark woods and heavy drapes, like in the library of my dreams. I can probably keep dreaming because budget was definitely not in mind when putting together this mood board. Fantasy it may be (I can’t say that I ever see my husband signing off on mauve furniture), I had to throw in the vintage cameras as a nod to our ever expanding, real life collection. All that’s missing is the bookshelf ladder and I’ll move right in.
