Nursery Brainstorming: Round Three

December 18, 2017

It’s been an eternity since I’ve posted here, but I thought, hey, better late than never. My last post was about my son’s nursery before he was even born–he’s now heading towards being two and we have another little baby in the family. I’ve mostly pulled together the new guy Charlie’s nursery, but I thought I would share some of my early ideas for the space before showing off the finished product (plus I still have a few things to finish up in there).

Back when we didn’t know what we were having, I brainstormed ideas for both genders. Basically, I wanted something pretty calm and neutral. I was soooo sure that I was having a girl–it really just felt like a girl– that I went out and bought this rug before I even knew for sure. Needless to say, I returned it.

I still love this rug and I wish that I had another place to put it in the house, but there isn’t really a pink-friendly space in our home–it’s all blue and gray. I was going for a bit of a feminine southwestern feel here and I love this and if somehow I ended up with another little girl (please, universe, no thank you), I would totally do this.

My initial idea for the boy version was basically the same thing, minus the pink. I’m obsessed with those cactus prints (I actually ended up using something similar in our master bedroom) and I think this would have been super cute but it ended up not being what I did. My husband wasn’t super into it and he liked some of the ideas that I had for the room that were much more graphic and woodland themed. And he ended up being totally right.

This is what I ended up with in the end. His actual room isn’t too far off from this and I LOVE IT. It’s my favorite nursery I’ve done for any of my kids.

I can’t wait to share the finished product!
