What I’m Super Into This Fall

November 21, 2019

I’m super late to posting any kind of “fall” content considering the holiday season starts next week, but it turns out that fall is one of the busiest times of the year for me at work and at home. I hardly got to enjoy the season at all, it just kinda flew by. But, before it’s totally over and we move into full-on Christmas mania, I did want to share my fall faves this year!

Fashion

This fall I hit up thrift stores and Poshmark pretty hard so I don’t have a lot of “still in stores” fashions to share.

One of my faves has been these Madewell Cali Demi Boot Cut Jeans. They’re super comfortable and the slight cropped boot cut looks adorable with booties or tennis shoes. I’ve been wearing them ALL THE TIME. In close second in favoriteness has been the Gap Cigarette Jeans which are just about the most perfect “mom” jeans ever. Highly recommend.

I’ve also worn this Shrunken Ribbed Cardigan sweater from Madewell a bunch, too. It has worked well for being dressed up or down, worn by itself or with something underneath. Super versatile, and I bought it in two colors.

Here are a few of my fave fall looks this season! Most of this stuff is from thrift stores, past seasons, or gotten for a steal at Last Chance (it’s the clearance center for Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack).

Beauty

I have gotten a little bit obsessed with eyeshadows this fall, so I’ve been playing around with them a lot. My current and always favorite is Colourpop, especially the Sol and Double Entendre palettes. It’s truly a high quality product at a budget price!

My other two faves are both Hemp/CBD related. Herbivore’s Emerald facial oil is insanely amazing. It just relaxes the heck out of your skin. Redness, dryness, blemishes– it helps it all. I can’t say enough about this stuff. It ain’t cheap, but so worth it. I wish I could slather my entire body in it. One downside though– it smells like straight up weed. So don’t put it on before you go to work (unless your work is cool with that, then go ahead).

On the more budget-friendly side is NYX’s Bare With Me Hemp Radiant Primer. I think I paid about $14 for this, but you might be able to snag it at one of Ulta’s sales for less. I’ve never used a primer that makes my skin glow like this one! It works great (sad dry skin begone!) and smells great and is just… great.

As always, I love a good bath. And while our house isn’t really the best or most relaxing place to indulge (we only have one tub and it’s full of my kids’ toys), I still like to sneak one in now and again. Any good bath requires a little bath bomb or bubbles. I tried out Lush’s Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb this year which was one of the best smelling bath bombs I’ve ever used but lacked the deep moisturizing properties of some of their other ones.

The kids have been super into using the glitter pumpkin bubble bar, which I’m fine with because it smells good and gets them to bathe without trying to either bludgeon each other with bath toys or complain endlessly.

Books

If I’m being super honest, I didn’t really read any books that I LOVED this fall, so I’ll share the one that I just liked: Hollow Kingdom.

This book has the most amazing animal character I may have ever read. I fell in love with this stupid crow. However, overall, the plot didn’t really grab me and it was just OK. Still, if you’re looking to read a book driven by a foul-mouthed, sassy, street-smart pet crow that is also set in the zombie apocalypse, this has got ya covered.

Podcasts

Pretty much anything on Wondry has been my jam. If you haven’t checked out Man in the Window get to it! It’s amazing look at the Golden State Killer with a focus on the victims. The Shrink Next Door was also super engaging and interesting.

All summer and fall I’ve been listening to Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter’s podcasts which I also love. Some really fun and interesting celebrity interviews and I definitely laughed until I cried a few times.

And that’s been my fall! Pumpkin-patching, baking stuff, eating foods, and playing in the leaves! Only a few more days until the holiday season begins!
