My much-anticipated sewing machine finally arrived and one of the first things I wanted to make was a whale-shaped pillow. I had seen one in a house tour on Apartment Therapy and loved it. I don’t think mine is quite as classy, but he still came out pretty cute, I think. He’s hanging out in my living room at the moment, doing whale stuff.
I call him Herman.
If you have a sewing machine or if you just like to sew by hand it’s pretty easy to make your own whale pillow. Here are some general instructions on how it’s done. I didn’t include every single step or detail along the way, so if you have any questions just let me know.
In case you were wondering, he’s made using a partially wool felt. Heavier than acrylic but not as expensive as 100% wool.
